EMBRACING EQUITY: Women’s History Month

March,2023

Women’s history month presents us with opportunities to celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women that we are working with and those around the globe.; and time to evaluate our progress on equity, diversity, and inclusion; and still recognize that there is a lot of work that needs to be done. The theme was, #EMBRACEEQUITY.

Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities to reach equal outcomes. It’s about being fair and impartial. Equity seeks to change the social systems that actively marginalize women.

As we strive to embrace equity, we are mindful of individual different needs to create similar outcomes. Together with our partners we take account of these differences and design interventions to equip the youth and women with skills to pursue economic opportunities. This is done through creating safe spaces, vocational and formal education, parenting programs, education, VSLA, and other community-based interventions that ensure the safety and well-being of girls and women.

4 participants (all female) from the SYRADO cluster participated in the Katale Women trade show at UMA show grounds, Kampala. The participants supported by CRVPF showcased their work in fashion and design, arts and crafts with items including wedding gowns, different fashions of clothes, scarves craft bags, shoes, jewellery, wall hangings, decorations, etc. The activity provided much-needed exposure for the young female entrepreneurs to make connections with customers as well as sell their products.

We are working towards breaking the social norms that legitimize violence against women and girls. By this, we know that girls and women will make their contribution to economic development in a safe environment. Together with our partners, we are contributing to more stable and resilient economies through interventions that ensure the protection, promotion, and fulfillment of human rights. Our interventions are geared towards better outcomes for women and children.

We recognized CRVPF Executive Director who is a champion of equity at workplace, and employees who inspire women and girls to strive.
